Summer 2024 Internship Experience at Texas Instruments
Wow, where do I even start? This summer has been one of the greatest learning experiences I have encountered, and it has challenged me and enabled me to grow professionally and personally. These past 12 weeks, I had the opportunity to intern in the Capital Accounting department at Texas Instruments, and it was nothing short of exceptional! As I embarked on this new journey, I was equally excited to grow my knowledge in accounting, network and build connections, and develop professionally. Entering the building on my first day felt surreal as the anticipated moment had finally arrived.?
PROJECTS
I was tasked with the responsibility of three projects this summer at TI.?With the first, I developed an audit survey designed to assess the existence and management of assets. With the second, I facilitated the clean-up of the capital asset listing by utilizing Excel tools and deployed a new template for capitalization requests. With the third, I created a SharePoint page and Excel form with built-in automation to request policy exceptions and house the data in a repository.??
SKILLS
Each project presented its challenges, however, with the help of my project sponsors and supervisor, I was able to process the information and successfully execute the daily/weekly tasks by approaching them with the insight I gained from my stakeholders. Their perspectives and advice encouraged me to think creatively to formulate the right solutions. These projects allowed me to utilize my Excel skills which enabled me to complete my work. Some skills I developed in Excel include data validation for standardized drop-down lists, developing formulas for form automation, and utilizing conditional formatting to identify duplicates. Additionally, with this hands-on experience, I was able to better understand the audit process and the ways in which it could be made more efficient.

LESSONS
The most important lesson I learned this summer was taking the initiative to reach out to others. Whether it was asking a simple question, discussing the progress of a deliverable, or getting feedback on an idea, regularly meeting with my supervisor and project stakeholders made my journey at TI very productive and helped me realize the importance of leveraging my network.?
VOLUNTEERING
Apart from growing my professional career, TI provided the interns with several opportunities to give back to the community. I volunteered in several activities that included sorting clothes at Trusted World, packing essential kits with United Way Dallas, and writing thank you cards for teachers.
TAKEAWAYS
All in all, my time at Texas Instruments has been meaningful and has impacted me beyond my professional development. I learned about the structure of working in a corporate environment, the importance of taking charge of your projects, and why building connections and expanding your professional network is an integral part of success. As a bonus, I made some wonderful new friends and discovered my strengths and other areas of growth. I will forever be grateful to TI and my very supportive team for this opportunity!
