Summer 2023 Internship Experience

Greetings,

As my Summer internship is almost coming to an end, I wish to take this as an opportunity to celebrate my achievements and reflect on this rewarding experience.

I got the incredible opportunity to work as a Quality Data Analyst Intern at Hyosung TNS for Summer 2023. These 2.5 months have been the most important months in my corporate journey and I would forever be grateful for being given this opportunity. I never imagined working in the ATM industry and without a doubt, it has been a lot of fun.

I used Tableau, PowerQuery, and Excel throughout my internship to gain practical experience, bringing what I had learned in the classroom to the business world. When I was a student, I believed I was proficient in using the software and analytical tools. But as these months went on, I came to the realization that I still have a ton to learn.

I worked on a project to conduct a regression analysis between US census data and the company's products’ characteristics & performance. The goal was to see ATM utilization with variables such as population, race, age, income level, gender, and other environmental differences. By the end of this project, I was able to profile the products and their performance demographically and geographically. I could understand the strategy behind ATM placements by the banks (our customers) and identify any scope of improvements.

I mastered my analytical skills - finding the best type of visualization, deriving insights from data, and using those insights to fit the analysis. Not only this, I was also able to build up on a lot of soft skills. I learnt how to work and communicate in a team, how to manage my time efficiently to meet deadlines and most importantly, how to face failures and rejections. There were instances when things didn't go as planned, when my superiors were not very happy with my work or when I could not give my best. But this experience humbled me and better equipped me to handle rejections and make the best out of every situation.

This internship wouldn't have been successful, if not for my supervisors Simon Ban , Kevin S. Yu and colleague Ian Wiley, who have been a great support system throughout my time at the company. When I look back at the time I spent at the organization, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and relief, as I feel more confident about myself, my skills and feel ready for the corporate world.
