Summer 2022- Reflections, refreshing, restarting
La isla bonita and the ugly truth. As I sat on a swing by the beach with my parents, sibling, and some acquaintances, I remember seeing a girl a few years older than me walking with an older man. I Was told that man was not her father, that the young woman was a sex worker, earning a living in the company of tourists. I decided that moment while having small talk with another preteen girl that I never wanted to engage in work where I had to sacrifice my mind, body, and soul to pay bills and survive. Yet if you look at my resume and note that I have worked my age in hours, you will note that I have not always kept the promise I made to myself that day which while I listen to the waves of the ocean, a song by a pop star and my heart.

Who are we to question those who chose to do certain types of work when we have chosen our corporate work over our precious lives? Asking for a friend.
The pandemic has given me a rude awakening when it comes to holistic wellness, mindfulness, and joy. I had a few false health scares and became more aware of my mortality. I remember saying to myself that I did not want to live like this as I was living at the time. Waiting for the next big thing to energize me. Window shopping for love and joy. Use my mistakes and failures as excuses to not show up fully.
When I sat at the examination table and my doctor asked me what if I just accepted myself the way I was and went after what I wanted, not in those words, a light bulb went off. I had been trying to lose the weight I gained during the pandemic but I had lost a bit of hope and joy in the process. I wanted to be comfortable in the skin I was in and to show up in my own life.
It seemed like every time I went out of my way to step into my greatness, people would leave gems of wisdom. I would take their words and take steps closer to achieving my goals. It was hard to learn to eat better again, to walk for exercise and not to escape problems, to set boundaries and advocate for myself, feeling as though I had wasted most of 2021 playing it small and rolling with the wrong punches.
I decided to show myself grace and compartmentalize to create space for my audacious goals. I reminded myself of my worth and value. I parted ways with everything, well almost everything that doesn’t serve me.
Beauty for ashes is real. I am comforted knowing that my best days are ahead of me. I am excited about the new memories I will create. I am thankful to the people who invested in me. I am thankful to my younger self who never allowed fear, money, opinions, age, etc. to interfere with pursuing happiness and celebrating small wins.
I promised myself that Summer 2022 will be the best summer of my life. The universe will provide and that will manifest in my life. I have decided that no matter what happens, I will continue to curate my best life. More importantly, I have learned to show myself grace and to not measure my success in numbers.
Summer 2022 is here and as I refresh my life and skills and prepare to restart in a sense in many areas of my life, I have decided to help others do the same.
I am offering 5 4-week programs and complimentary downloaded based on the programs.
