Summer 2022 Internship Experience

Being an international student the internship search and landing in one was challenging task for me. I was extremely fortunate to be part of Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC as Planning Data Analyst , this Summer. The 10 weeks of learnings were amazing in this journey.

I worked for Planning and Analytics Team to develop a Power BI tool to know the current status of their Vehicle Processing Centers. I thoroughly got involved in Data Extraction from multiple sources, Data Manipulation with Analysis and Visualization. I collected the data manually of each centers in a spreadsheet. Later on using Power BI I happened to perform the data extraction , analysis and get to understand the data and the meaningful insights I could derive from the same. I used Power Query Editor and SQL for performing data manipulation and analysis. Once the data was ready I built a tool with specific insights where the company officials can access the reports data on a single platform with the report name , path of the report and the last accessed date with few of the more features. As the company is moving towards a single data source the tool I built will help them to track the reports data which they can consider in future.

The journey helped me in understanding, shaping my skills in Data Analytics domain and taught me how to be a good data story teller with all the technical and professional skills. I thank my manager , mentor Will Genematas and all the co workers who were involved in guiding me in execution of the project.

My learnings from this journey were

1) Make connections with everyone it should not be limited to only the work you are performing! Your network is your net worth.

2) Be hungry to learn and implement new things.

3) Be collaborative , have critical thinking mindset and ask many questions as possible which always helps in understanding of the topic.
