Summer 2021 Internship at HP Inc.

As a graduate student, pursuing my Master’s in Supply Chain Management at The University of Texas at Dallas, I got an excellent opportunity to work at one of the world’s most sustainable companies, HP Inc. It is an American multinational IT service company headquartered in Palo Alto, California. HP develops and manufactures personal computing devices, a range of printers, and other imaging products.

I am currently working as a supply chain intern at HP in the Customer Support team. Working alongside the best minds in the industry, I experienced tremendous growth, both professionally and personally. Additionally, I was successful in applying the knowledge I gained from my courses (OPRE6302, OPRE6371, and OPRE6369) at UTD, in the real world to solve challenging problems.

During the start of my internship, I took training from several different teams to understand the current processes and challenges they were facing. Next up, my task was to devise strategies to improve the processes and minimize the wastage of parts. I am actively working on enhancing and merging the current Print & PC processes into a single and more proactive process. The other project that I am involved with, is improving the accuracy of the Life Time buy and Life Time Forecasting processes.

I am extremely thankful to my manager Cliff Coppinger for always being available to help me despite his super hectic schedule and pushing me to think out of the box. I am also hugely grateful to my mentor Liliana Rivas and my most patient colleagues Alejandra Castro, Sergio Ramirez, Christian Sittenfeld, and others for their constant help and support.

At my university, I would like to thank all the professors who helped me in building my technical and analytical knowledge through their classes. I would especially like to thank my faculty mentor Prof. Ganesh Janakiraman who has been constantly providing invaluable advice from the day I joined UTD. I would also like to thank Prof. Bin Hu and Prof. Ramesh Subramoniam for making the class so interactive and interesting.

I’m elated to share that I will be continuing my internship at HP in the fall semester as well and cannot wait to see what’s in store for me.
