Summer 2021 Internship experience at Hallmark Cards, Inc.
This Summer, I was fortunate enough to be offered an internship, and I am very excited to tell you about my time as a Data Analyst Intern at Hallmark Cards, Inc. Hallmark is the country's oldest and largest greeting card company. Hallmark produces a variety of products in addition to greeting cards, including party supplies, gift wrap, and stationery. Hallmark believes that when you care enough, you can change the world. That is why they are committed to making the world a more emotionally connected place and to making a difference in people's lives.
At the University of Texas at Dallas, I am pursuing a master's degree in Information Technology & Management with a focus on Business Intelligence & Data Analytics (UTD). This experience benefited me in understanding practical parts of courses like Database Foundations, Business Analytics with R, Data Visualization, Spreadsheet Modeling & Data Analytics, and Machine Learning. The internship program at Hallmark allowed me to apply what I had learned in class to real-world projects. I had exposure to Hallmark leadership, learned more about its products and initiatives, and remotely met with workers and interns from several disciplines, in addition to working on significant assignments connected to Hallmark's business objectives.
As a Data Analyst Intern, I used data analysis to derive insight, patterns, and correlations from Hallmark's and other external data that could be used to inform revenue development prospects, uncover cost-cutting opportunities, and influence strategy. Quantitative data approaches, database creation, and data mining techniques were all used extensively during the analysis. As an intern, I created and maintained user-friendly KPI dashboards to help business partners better visualize pre-existing consumer profile reports and apply data-driven insight to enhance sales. I got an opportunity to coordinate cross-functionally through several teams, which allowed me to network and learn about the procedures employed by teams such as Data Science, Database Developers,?and Retail Merchandise.

Finally, I'd want to thank Lindsay Campbell, my manager, and Matt Debus, my mentor, for helping me learn new problem-solving skills every day and giving me insight into what makes me unique and how I might achieve in my profession. I'd also like to express my gratitude to Prof. Mark Thouin, Prof. Donna Nix, and the JSOM Career Management Center (CMC) for their constant guidance and support.
