Summer 2020 Internship Experience with TWG Companies

TWG Companies is an American multinational company and a service provider. It specializes in investing, developing, delivering, and integrating its proprietary products and services.

 TWG Companies are involved in technology, steel, plastic, recycling, energy (oil, gas, solar), construction, and logistics to businesses of all sizes.

 After filling out hundreds of applications for the summer internship, I was fortunate that TWG Companies believed in me and offered me a summer internship role in these difficult and uncertain times. I joined the company in the last week of June 2020 as a Software Engineer Intern. Here, as a part of the TWG Technologies Team, I am working on an application for one of its clients.

 For the first couple of weeks, it was more of an understanding process than a learning curve of what the application serves, what are the application requirements, what all is needed from my side. So, during these weeks, I worked on the required documentation and helped the development team with their work. After that, along with the routine work, I worked in the database development team for the application wherein we created data models and built SQL code for the same.

 I attended daily scrum meetings where we discussed our work done and what must be done in the coming days. I also got to know about various widely used front-end and back-end technologies in the corporate world.

So, with the remaining days left for this internship, I will continue to work on the database technologies and try to learn different technical aspects as much as I can and brush up my database management skills. It’s been a great journey so far for me in my first internship experience in the United States of America.
