Summer 2020 Internship Experience - AMD Inc.

For over 50 years, AMD has been steering innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies ― the building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the datacenter. With AMD being the only company in the world that has both high-performance graphics and high-performance compute technology, leading Fortune 500 businesses, several vanguard scientific research facilities, and millions of consumers around the world rely on AMD technology daily for embedding quality in their lives, and for changing the norms of all work and no play!

I feel ecstatic to be a part of a company that is driving innovation under the leadership of an extraordinary woman, Dr. Lisa Su. Interacting with many amazing women at executive positions, I feel AMD indeed implements gender inclusion to the core.

As a dashboard development co-op/intern I have been doing cost-analysis using project-based accounting data cube. I create reports for their functional management teams to track how their teams are utilizing the available resources and for their program management teams to make org-level decisions about various products. I got the opportunity to learn and apply Business Planning and Consolidation reporting to their headcount forecasts.

AMD promotes personal learning and development just as much and provides learning tools and opportunities. Besides that, they have a wonderful initiative for interns to connect and share their learning through intern-speaking series.

Past four weeks have been incredible, learning about AMD’s business, and it would not have been easy without the guidance, support, and domain-expertise of Prasanna Chitti, James Dardig, Jennifer Staufer, Chad Cole, and everyone else I had the opportunity to connect with. It is exemplary how each one takes pride in what we do at AMD.

I would like to acknowledge my deepest appreciation for my manager, Sarah Blankenship, for hiring me, mentoring me and being patient with me all through. None of this remarkable experience would have been possible without her!

Last but not least, I would like to express my admiration for all my professors at UTD for their positive influence, encouraging words and adding value to my life in their own ways!

I could not have had a better end to this unprecedented summer!
