Positive Sums!: The White House Creator Economy Conference

On August 14, 2024, the White House’s Office of Digital Strategy successfully hosted the inaugural White House Creator Economy Conference (WHCEC). This groundbreaking event brought together leading digital creators and industry experts to discuss critical issues in the creator economy, including privacy, fair pay, AI, and mental health. The conference facilitated lively discussions and provided a platform for creators to share their insights directly with administration officials! It was a remarkable opportunity for government members to gain firsthand understanding from those shaping the digital frontier, with the idea being ensuring that policies are informed by the realities and innovations of the digital world.

Strange Equation for Marketing: Politicians x The Creator Economy…?

With the 2024 election right around the corner and politics at the front of everyone’s minds, there’s a new marketing format we’ve seen come to light - candidates and creators interacting. Within the last few weeks Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump appeared on stream with Twitch streamer Adin Ross as well as comedian Theo Von’s podcast. Similarly, this year’s DNC invited over 200 content creators as they kicked off Kamala Harris’s nomination. Other streamers like Hasanabi (Hasan Piker) have had multiple notable left-wing politicians such as AOC and Donie O’Sullivan, on his channel. We're fascinated with the ways the influencer space has spread into culture and media, and the merging of creator content and the political sphere is one of the most visible examples this year.

Conclusion

And that’s all for the third edition of The (SUM)mary. Thanks for popping in, I can’t wait to connect with you all again a month from now!
