Summary of Copilot Announcements MS Build 2024

Last week was Microsoft Build and of course Copilot was one of the hot topics. During Microsoft's conferences I sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed, so let's sit down, lean back and read the newsletter. I've covered the most important updates for you.

First things first, the Book of News

Your one-stop shop for all announcements across all Microsoft platforms is, of course, the Book of News.

Of course, there are countless other announcements besides Copilot, so let's go through and discover the upcoming features for Azure, Power Platform, Modern Work, and so on.

Or, for all you German-speaking folks out there, check out my second LinkedIn newsletter, The Connector. This newsletter is published on a monthly basis and delivers an M365 update with all relevant information on the 1st of every month:

Get a new teammate to help you with all your tasks as a sparring partner with Team Copilot.

?? available: in Preview later this year with Copilot for M365 license.

With this announcement Microsoft is evolving Copilot from your personal AI assistant, to your team AI assistant. Team Copilot will act as a valuable team member, while it's participating and contributing along with the team.

You can find here a first intro-video from Microsoft

It will be whereever you are collaborating: Teams, Loop, Planner etc.

  • Meeting facilitator: Copilot enables a more productive discussion in meetings by managing the agenda and taking notes anyone in the meeting can coauthor.?

  • Group collaborator: Copilot helps everyone get more out of chats, surfacing the most important information, tracking actions items, and addressing unresolved issues.??

  • Project manager: Copilot ensures every project runs smoothly by creating and assigning tasks, tracking deadlines, and notifying team members when their input is needed.?

Create your own Copilot in a few clicks

?? available: Early Access Program; Preview later this year

Your starting point is SharePoint, from which you can create your custom Copilot with just a few clicks.

You can then use your own Copilot in SharePoint. You can also share it with your team. Your custom Copilot can also be modified and integrated with Copilot Studio. Find all the details here

Better start exploring Copilot Studio

There are so many new features to be announced with Copilot Studio. If you're not familiar with Copilot Studio, you should start now. Personally I see a huge potential with Copilot Studio and of course Copilot Extension. Super exciting announcements around Copilot Studio.

Create a custom Copilot that runs as an agent

?? available: limited private preview; Preview later this year

As a next step of the introduced custom Copilot in SharePoint, you can also create your very own custom Copilots that run and act as agents that work independently under your direction:

  • Automate long-running business processes.

  • Reason over actions and user inputs.

  • Leverage memory to bring in context.?

  • Learn based on user feedback.

  • Record exception requests and ask for help.

More to come with Microsoft Copilot

It's crazy to see how fast Copilot is evolving. Not only how it gets better and better in daily use cases, but even more how the innovation really doesn't stop and it's super fast paced. All I can say is, you better get ready for Copilot and start your personal (learning) journey now. Feel free to check out my previous episodes to get a first overview.

? What is your favorite Copilot announcement? And what are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments ??.
