Standards applied to the digital and green transitions of the construction industry - A tall hobbit
Last week we had several events related with the new European Construction Products Regulation #CPR. The central event took place on October 30: the European Commission Commission presented the new CPR at a session in Brussels, which included a panel on digitisation and BIM. After the presentation on the DPP system by Oscar Nieto Sanz (EC), we had an interesting panel moderated by Jens Schumacher (EC) and the participation of ?ivind Rooth (Chair of CEN/TC 442) and myself (representing the consortium developing the feasibility study of the DPP system). Other related events took place the same week.

Presentation of the survey of the DPP system study
On October 28, the EC hosted a meeting in Brussels organised by the consortium developing the feasibility study for the #DPP system for construction products ( TECNALIA Research & Innovation , Cobuilder and UNE Asociación Espa?ola de Normalización ). The picture illustrating this article includes the face-to-face participants, and we had more than 200 others online. The programme was:
During the meeting, we presented the survey to gather information from industry, public administrations and other stakeholders on the DPP system, which was launched on October 30 and ends on November 27.
The result will serve to revise the assumptions considered during the assessment of the different options for implementing the DPP system.
Kick-off meeting of CEN/TC 442/WG 12
The kick-off meeting of the working group that will develop a common format for the performance of construction products took place on October 29 at CEN and CENELEC headquarters in Brussels, with the option of online attendance.
The meeting started with a series of presentations. Oscar Nieto Sanz (EC) explained the DPP system in the new CPR. Christophe Sykes ( Construction Products Europe aisbl ) gave the industry perspective. Espen Schulze (Convenor WG 12) presented the ISO standards on data templates. Aitor Aragón (Secretary WG 12) explained the concept of Smart CE in Spanish standards, supported by ARTURO ALARCON BARRIO , who presented the case of cement. Martin Schreck (Convenor CEN/CLC/JTC 24/WG 1) informed about the works developed in JTC 24 for DPP and how to coordinate the activities with WG 12.
The meeting continued with a technical session to confirm the purpose and scope of the standard and the approach of the data templates. A new struture for the standard will be circulated this week, starting a short commenting period. With the comments received, a WI proposal will be submitted to CEN/TC 442 in the following weeks or months.
