Who knew that working at a rugby game would mean getting a front-row seat to all the action, minus the tackling (thankfully)! As a bartender and occasional hostess at Hollywoodbets Kings Park, I've had the unique privilege of mastering the art of pouring drinks to the background music of roaring crowds and try-scoring cheers.
Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
- Bartending Speed is a Superpower: Imagine it’s halftime, and there’s a tidal wave of thirsty fans heading your way. You suddenly understand the true meaning of “crunch time”—and it’s not the tackles on the field! Speed-pouring has become my hidden talent, with my record standing at an impressive 20 drinks in 60 seconds (okay, maybe it was more like 10, but who’s counting?).
- Making Friends 101: As it turns out, people really like you when you’re the person between them and their beer. The real game, however, is learning to decode fans’ “I just missed that try” face. Bonus points for knowing their order before they even ask.
- Stamina Training: Standing behind the bar all game, I’ve learned that pouring drinks for 80 minutes is its own version of a marathon. With fans cheering and the pressure building, I’ve become a champion in “bar-lifting,” pouring endless drinks back-to-back without a spill (although, when a try’s scored, my hand-eye coordination might get a little too excited!)
- Hosting Duties: Occasionally, I switch from pouring drinks to guiding guests around the suite. And let’s be honest navigating a packed suite with a smile, a joke in hand, and a bit of charm is a life skill no one prepares you for!
So here’s to the legendary Hollywoodbets Kings Park vibe, where I get the best of both worlds: witnessing every try and handing out celebratory rounds to fans! ?Cheers to rugby, to bartending (my cardio of choice), and to the unforgettable energy that makes every game day a story to tell.
