SUI Token Distribution ??
Did SUI fumble its chance at community by having a whitelist token sale instead of an airdrop?

SUI Token Distribution ??

Sui just announced its community token allocation, which ended up being a kind of whitelist presale with early members on the project’s Discord allegedly being able to buy tokens at a discounted price of $0.03, down from the public sale price of $0.1 each. I say “allegedly” able to buy tokens because as of now, the entire USA has been excluded from the presale of SUI tokens (which is likely thanks to none other than Gary Gensler). Additionally, the exchanges hosting this presale event have laundry lists of countries that can’t buy the discounted token from their platforms because of sanctions and other regulatory reasons.

Sui just posted on Discord that they’re finding ways to bypass limitations on other countries, and we’ll have to wait and see how this will all shake out.?

Ultimately this is a lesson in grinding for airdrops only if the actions “spark joy”, and leaving the hunt for someone else if it just plain doesn’t. The reason being that it’s impossible to predict what will qualify users for airdropped tokens, how they’ll do the airdrop, or whether thr project will even airdrop at all. Getting in early with a new project is a great way to have a shot at some free money, but there are no guarantees. Sui was always supposed to have a community access program, but the details were never expressed. Many users operated as if it would be an Arbitrum-like airdrop, and so they tested the network extensively but if they didn’t join the Discord, they were plain out of luck. This one misstep voided them from the whitelist, which no one could have guessed. And I should also note that no one was told that the USA would be excluded entirely from the community token allocation.?

This doesn’t mean it’s time to give up, but it does mean that to get that free money we’ve got to lean in and prepare to lose before we eventually win.?
