SUGGESTIONS TO PROPEL GROWTH FOR IT/ITeS IN MAHARASHTRA

Maharashtra is well recognized as the most favored destination for industries owing to its well-developed infrastructure, skilled work force, strategic location with good transportation network, progressive sectorial policies, best incentive policy and must more. Because of this, Maharashtra and Mumbai in particular, have been favored destinations and attractions with sense of security for foreign investor over several years.

The holistic development of Maharashtra definitely needs proactive thinking on formalizing a stimulus package for industries for further boosting of the economy. Along with exponential push for industrial growth, creation of mass and affordable housing is also equally important. Following are the formal suggestions for amendments in IT/ITeS policy and Integrate Information Technology Township (IITT) policy what shall strengthen our state policies and help our state to emerge one of the most preferred destination for the IT industry.

Suggestion 1 : The Minimum Land requirement to be brought down to minimum of 10 Acres from the current requirement of 25 Acres.

Suggestion 2: FSI for IIT in MMR and PMR to be revised to 4 instead of current 2.5 and 3 for the rest of the state and ancillary area available under the UDCPR 2020, instead of 2.

Suggestion 3: The approval of Master plan is suggested to be in the jurisdiction of Chief Planner, MIDC and CEO in view of Ease of Doing Business, instead of Director, Town Planning, Pune.

Suggestion 4: Project completion duration shall be staggered as per plot area, i.e. - for plots upto 100 Acres it should be revised to 7 years, for plots upto 50 Acres, should be revised to 6 years and for plots upto 25 Acres should be capped at 5 years, instead of universal capping of 5 years for all kind of plots.

Suggestion 5: Cross subsidy shall be increased to 100% (along with mandatory provisions of affordable housing) instead of 50% (of area in support services which is permitted to be sold outside of IITT) in view of attracting maximum investment and also increasing availability of affordable housing scheme, which is the need of the hour. All benefits of affordable housing scheme to be made applicable for this component. ?

The above suggestions will strengthen our state policies and will help the state of Maharashtra to emerge as one of the top preferred destination for the IT industry.?
