SUFFERING V. PAIN
Today I would like to share a Market Force principle on the difference between suffering and pain:
SUFFERING IS A CONSEQUENCE OF NOT CHOOSING.
When we do not choose, we lose our way.
When we are lost, we indulge in our emotions about “what if this” or “what if that.”
These scenarios are endless.
People who rely on us also become lost and suffer when we do not choose.
There is no learning in suffering; nothing new will be gained as we experience only endless recurrence.
THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THROUGH.
When we choose, we take a stand – we declare how our lives will “be.”
Our declaration creates the ground upon which we stand going forward.
WHEN WE DECLARE HOW OUR LIVES WILL BE, WHAT TO DO BECOMES CLEAR.
Make no mistake – making this declaration is painful and there is no certainty of outcome.
However, the possibilities of growth and learning become available.
Furthermore, even when those who rely on us disagree with our choice, at least they know where we stand and they are free to take their own stand.
They are no longer trapped in our suffering.
When we do not declare our future, others are left “dancing with a shadow” and we are left complaining about our circumstances.
