Our third article on our theme of Online Fatigue, and this time we introduce a more novel approach to overcome this new difficulty.

Recap
Why are we doing this series? People have told us that they are starting to get a little fed-up with online training. Yes, the amount we are exposed to in this COVID world has increased, but a major factor is the quality of the online material. Previous content has been transferred online without the necessary planning and redesign. Uploaded Powerpoint slide decks, poorly prepared live sessions, and technology issues are all too common. We spend all day staring at a screen longing for live face-to-face interactions.
There are those, of course, who have pivoted and embraced the situation, investing heavily in online resources, and altering their future training strategies as a result of their success. But not everyone can afford the luxury of bespoke, engaging materials, so what about the rest of us?
At Leaderbox, we have tried to address this issue in a number of ways, and each will be the topic of a short article over the next couple of weeks. For this third article, we explore using facilitator packs for online sessions.
Approach 3. Online Facilitator Packs
The first two articles highlighted several key issues:
- In-house learning professionals are under huge pressure to deliver an increased demand in online training whilst simultaneously developing new materials that are relevant and engaging.
- Poor content may lead to disgruntled employees who are not receiving timely training, or are receiving training with dry, uninspiring content.
- Learning professionals may not have the experience in using professional e-learning authoring tools, and may not have access to expertise to develop enhanced engaging materials.
Previously we have considered methods of how to enhance the content, and considered the use of external facilitators to free up time and to provide a quality training experience. Our next solution is a novel way to provide quality online sessions via in-house resources by using our Online Facilitator Packs.
What are we doing about it?
At Leaderbox, we have developed a new product, the Online Facilitator Pack. This approach goes beyond the development of enhanced training materials, and provides a complete package for in-house facilitators to deliver sessions online.
Developed as interactive web content, the packs include explanation sections for the facilitator, downloadable instruction sets, the ‘live session’ which is shared with the participants via any preferred video conference tool, debrief sessions, engaging interactive tools and materials, and any necessary ‘handouts’.
By providing the necessary tools, in a simple to follow package, the in-house facilitator can lead the online session as and when necessary.
