Suffer from 'Imposter Syndrome'? Well, I've got news for you.

I’m going to bust a myth today.? And it’s a myth that has been doing the rounds for years.

Q:? Has 'Imposter Syndrome' got you by the short and curlies?

A: Here's the thing.? A syndrome is a medical condition and there is no such medical syndrome as Imposter Syndrome. It doesn't exist.

Down Syndrome is a syndrome. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a syndrome.

So let's cut to the chase. The medical profession defines a 'syndrome' thus:

"A set of symptoms or conditions that occur together and suggest the presence of a certain disease or an increased chance of developing the disease."

There is no medical syndrome called 'Imposter Syndrome' except in the mind of a clever clogs who decided to label the feelings we have when we feel we are ?????? ???????????? and give those feelings more power than they deserve.

Strictly speaking, feeling like an imposter is NOT a medical condition. It's just a good whack of fear, doubt, insecurity, and feeling ?????? ????????????.

When you're feeling 'I'm not enough' when you speak and present, I've got three tips to help ground your energy and calm that anxious energy, refocus, and redirect your attention and INTENTION.

?? Here are three key steps in grounding and focusing your energy so you can perform at your best.

  1. ?BREATHE.? When you bring your focus down into your lower belly and breathe deeply, you are taking yourself out of your head and back into your body. Breathing helps relax you and brings you into the moment.
  2. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU.? When you put the focus on the audience, you take the pressure off yourself to be liked or to be perfect. Put the spotlight on the audience's experience instead and what you can do for them.
  3. ENOUGH.? Being in the moment means remembering that you are enough, you have enough, and you have done enough. You have everything you need in this moment to be your best and to give your best to the audience.

Now, if you haven't prepared and practiced, then that's another story! But assuming you have, give yourself a moment to settle, breathe, and remember that you have enough. Right now.
