Sudden downpours – thoughts on the election result…

Here I am on my annual baseball pilgrimage to watch the Oakland A’s redefine defensive ineptitude (tremendous job so far) when along comes Theresa…

With half an hour to kill while a Floridian thunderstorm rages I thought I’d share some thoughts with you after last week’s election.

Lack of political nous and cunning abounds in the UK.

I’m a strong believer that we have ended up with the politicians we deserve. We have only ourselves to blame. We have arrived at the bottom of the barrel.

Anyone with any self-respect has decided to avoid putting themselves forward for public office. The screaming and wailing at every turn is just too much for any rational human being to expose themselves to.

We have no real interest in encouraging our politicians to do good, be brave and honest. We much prefer to sit back and rant and rave whenever they put a foot wrong. This encourages poor behaviour – ever tried it with a two year old? Human or cocker spaniel, they are much the same.

The result is a house of sycophants and psychos that can’t think for themselves or for the long term and are not encouraged to in any way. There is no reward for doing so.

Even the Lord’s has decided they can’t be trusted and has voted down legislation put forward by our elected representatives. I have digressed, ever so slightly.

The real election outcome wasn’t the hung parliament, the Tories’ appalling campaign or JC celebrating his loss like a victory. Three in a row now, I’d be betting on fourth time lucky.

Nope the real outcome is the near certainty there will now not be a second referendum on either Brexit or Scotland.

There is no interest in either. In that way the election was a success for TM, the law of unintended consequences strikes again. The Lib Dems and SNP must now conjour up something else they stand for. That will be no mean feat, ask UKIP.

In that respect we now have more certainty. And off to the EU negotiations we go. High-ho, high-ho.

In some ways JC’s sheer bloodymindedness could easily be a better negotiating stance than TM’s likely sabre rattling. Conviction is a powerful beast and he has it by the bucket load. TM simply doesn’t.

I’d fancy myself to run rings round Theresa “Is it Tuesday? Let’s have a U-turn” May. Not Jeremy “Don’t wanna” Corbyn though. Ever tried negotiating with a two year old? Human or cocker spaniel, they are much the same.

[The digressions are fast becoming more interesting than the point of this missive – Ed]

Either way a deal will be struck and we can all get on with life. And so we arrive at the point of this article.

What should this mean for your financial plan and attaching investment strategy?

Zip, nada, ничего, nowt, dim byd, ezer.

If you are a TCFP client you have more than enough cash to see yourself through any and all short term volatility.

Everything else is invested with 3 years+ in mind and the aim to at least match inflation after costs.

That’s an excellent plan and strategy to achieve the plan. And lo and behold you are all on track.

There is, therefore, absolutely no reason to change tack and do anything differently.

If you’re feeling tempted to do so please immediately contact the office and arrange a pep talk with me.

Ignore any and all charlatans and soothsayers who will have you think differently. They thrive on your panic and it’s revenue producing actions.

If this does not sound like your financial plan and strategy then you’re not a TCFP client and it sounds likes you’re taking quite a punt on your future financial peace of mind. Good luck.

Now, on to more important matters.

When will the Oakland A’s actually start stringing together a series of half competent performances?

The storm has now passed…just in case you were wondering…
