Women having been leading in a variety of roles throughout the ages. However, most workplaces continue to dominated by men and cracking the code to create more diverse leaders remains a hot topic. With the pursuit of success in women's leadership it begs the question of what is success? There can't be just one definition that every woman seeks in her pursuit of leadership, right?
“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” ― Maya Angelou
After speaking with women in leadership roles about their definition of success a theme emerged in defining success. I've summarized those themes and would like to hear from you on what your definition of being a successful woman in leadership means.
- Learning to embrace the journey of getting results just as much as seeing the result.
- Having team members trust that they are being guided in the direction of the goals that signed on for.
- Being known as someone who is empathic and tenacious that steers the ship with integrity as the moral compass.
- Taking any situation and leading strategically through that circumstance with a team working diligently to execute the strategy even in the midst of a storm.
- Success is not a singular definition and as a woman in a highly visible role I strive to not be limited by someone's views of what it means for me to be successful. I focus on the bottom line- driving results and delivering for my employees and stakeholders.
