Successful Web Developers Have This!
I just started the book Mindset by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D. Dr. Dweck and her students conducted a study with preschoolers in which they gave them puzzles that were increasingly difficult to solve. Some children found a comfort point with the easier puzzles and decided they would not graduate to a more difficult puzzle. Another group of children were the extreme opposite. One even said, "are you crazy, why would I want to keep doing the same puzzle," in other words... "bring it on."
This mindset is called the "growth mindset," and I would assert that successful web developers possess the growth mindset as opposed to the "fixed" mindset. Web developers operate in a space that never stagnates -- there is always something new, some increasingly difficult puzzle to solve and we get to change the tools and the patterns we use to solve it -- often. (Of course, this applies to just about any position in business as technological advance constantly propels change in every industry).
Having a growth mindset is a better predictor of success than an IQ test! You can test your mindset on the author's website for the book.

9 年I strongly agree with the necessity of having a growth mindset to be comfortable with Web Development. However, I strongly disagree with the mindset of whomever developed that first website you gave us.
