Decisions should not be based on your intuition or impulse, it should be from proper analysis of environment of failure (success too)

Six thinking hats is a beautiful model for decision making process. It explains about six hats

1. Important Priorities & process
2. Facts & Information to support decision
3. Feelings & Emotions
4. Negative evaluation of anticipated outcome
5. Positive evaluation of anticipated outcome
6. Concept Challenge of creativity in decision

Here is a tool to use while applying six thinking hats

To conclude, the three steps are

1. Analyse the environment using established models
2. Avoid the role of intuitions and impulse
3. Consider all aspects and take a balanced decision to minimise risk
