A successful culinary-focused business starts and ends with this…

My #1 tip might surprise you because it has nothing to do with food.

Being committed to personal and professional development for yourself and your company is what sets those that are successful apart from those that aren’t. My definition of success isn't simply staying in business but it also includes a sense of satisfaction in your accomplishments. Search for the best industry events to attend. Participate in as many of them as you can. Create a training and development schedule for yourself, your leadership team, and your employees. You will receive a huge return on your investment when you do this. Your business will flourish as a result of your intentional plan of growth and learning how to better serve your clientele.

Before you start a business explore the beliefs that you hold, if any, about daily operational responsibilities, the industry, and how you would like for your life to be outside of the business. I have learned that owning a company provides opportunities for myself and others but I always put my family first. Our weekly family day is non-negotiable but it wasn't always that way. I do not accept clients or contracts that would disturb my peace of mind or the flow of business. Consider the challenges that are common in your industry and explore ways to resolve them or work through them in advance.

I said all of this to say that having the right MINDSET is the most important element to the success of your business, or the lack thereof. An Entrepreneurial Mindset is how you will succeed!
