It's Sunday night... I'm tired... I've had a great day with my family, friends, a long bike ride or run or something so I'm ready to drop. But, wait a moment, I have to plan my calendar. It's hard to do this sometimes but I convince myself that it's only 5 minutes or so and off to bed.
I'd venture to say that not everyone is like me. Some prefer to see how they feel before they plan their day. Some are planners like me. I get it! When we are tired, we have earned our right to chill out on the couch.
However, to become consistent at anything, and to achieve your goals, whether business, personal or exercise and health related, you must plan. Reacting just doesn't work. I plan my calendar every Sunday evening. I plan all my business activities, family, and exercise.
To plan exercise activities, I look at the weather and see if I can exercise outside. If so, I'd plan an outside activity into my calendar. I also look at the exercise classes that interest me and plan on those. And then I might see what friends are doing. I keep in mind my personal health fitness goals when planning my exercise. One thing I've done better about planning into my schedule is my goal for increased strength. This is so important for women over 40 (or really anyone), so I need to practice what I teach! I lift weights at home twice a week and join a boot camp type class once a week, so that I will gain strength and have fun too.
How about booking your class in advance?! This works great and keeps me committed to go to it. I get on a list and pay for it, and then I must go. So be sure to add this into your planning calendar.
