Successful Conclusion of the Neurosurgical Hemostatic Webinar between Indonesia and China

On November 20th, 2021, Annual Meeting of Indonesia Neurosurgeons was successfully held in Indonesia. With the effort of our partners, an international webinar entitled "Managing Hemostasis in Neurosurgery" was successfully held.

As part of the annual meeting, the international webinar invited Dr. Asra Al Fauzi, neurosurgeon from Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia, Dr. Shaochun Guo (Dr. Guo), neurosurgeon from Tangdu Hospital, Xi'an, China and Dr. Xinzhi Zhang (Dr. Zhang), academic manager of Medprin to share their professional experience related to hemostatic agents and their clinical use.

First, with the topic of "Bleeding Management: The Crucial Steps of Neurosurgical Procedure", Dr. Asra Al Fauzi highlighted the importance of perioperative hemostasis, and shared his clinical experience of commonly used hemostatic agents such as gelatin sponge, thrombin, and oxidized regenerated cellulose. Dr. Asra Al Fauzi concluded that hemostasis goes through the whole neurosurgical procedure, it is critical to comprehensively understand the hemostatic mechanism, advantages and disadvantages when choosing a new agent.

Next, Dr. Guo shared one clinical case with the topic of "Awake Surgery for Resecting a Glioma in The Right Frontal Eloquent Cortex". Dr. Guo presented in detail how he located the eloquent cortex through neuro-navigation, intra-op ultrasound, cryopathology, and how to locate tumor boundary through intra-op electrophysiology, ECOG, fMRI, Imri and TMS. With the help of advanced technologies, Dr. Guo was able to remove the tumor to the greatest extent with maximal safety.

Compared to other commercialized ORC based product,StypCel? has longer and slender fibers to achieve fast hemostasis in the surgery. With the chance of being showcased at the Annual Meeting of Indonesia Neurosurgeons, we hope StypCel? could benefit more patients in Indonesia.

Lastly, we would like to thank our partners for organizing the seminar and providing us this great opportunity to communicate with neurosurgeons worldwide. Medprin will continue on working as a bridge for international academic communication and collaboration in neurosurgery. Please stay tuned to our next international event!
