Is there a success template?

Some people look like they were born to succeed.

I’m sure you know someone like that.

It looks like things seamlessly fell into place for them and you’re left wondering what the secret is because you could do with some help.

I know the feeling because I have been there.

And before I get carried away, let me tell you that I found the template.

And yes, I will share too, otherwise, why bring it up?

The thing is while looking successful is pretty,

the path there isn’t always. So here are the unpretty things the road to success is paved with

• Sacrifice - The pursuit of excellence, which in this case is another word for success will have you letting go of so many of the things you thought you couldn't. For me it was TV. I never thought in a million years that me of the binging 5 seasons life would get to a place where I didn’t have time to watch TV. I should use this point to tell you that it is really you not prioritizing something as opposed to not having time for it.

There is always time, it is what you do with it that counts.

• Discipline - I used to think some people had ‘it’ and some people didn’t. On this journey, I have found that every single person that has tasted success had to find in them the power of discipline, the ability to do the things they needed to do instead of only the things they wanted to do. Trust me, it’s easier said than done. Because your weaknesses will put up a fight.

You will be fighting YOU! And yet, if you win, when you win, it will be worth it!

• Pure, old-fashioned hard work - I watched a movie where a young girl took all the shortcuts to get to the top that she could find. As a matter of fact, she didn’t even try to learn the job, she just went straight to blackmailing, stealing, and kicking other people out of her way. It got her the job, but keeping it? Well, your guess is as good as mine. Nothing beats doing the work. It will transform you, grow your confidence and enhance your ability. And when your time comes, you will be prepared.

Do the work, it pays off eventually.

• And here’s a bonus - Don’t give up. Not because you won’t fail, but because giving up cuts off all your chances of winning. And you came to win!
