What are your educational qualifications?

MBBS, Diploma in child health (Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, Ireland), DGCA Class 2 medical examiner (IAM, Bangalore)

What is your current job role?

I am currently responsible for the evaluation of US Healthcare documents (EHRs) received from various clients, identify missed diagnoses and recommend the same to the providers, thereby improving healthcare outcomes.

What inspired you to choose a different route as compared to other medical students / graduates?

Having completed a decade in the non-corporate sector, understanding its pros and cons, I was curious about the corporate world. I never regretted my decision to join one of the major players of the corporate (aviation) industry. The collapse of this player led me to search for employment opportunities in other corporate sectors. I was intrigued by the opportunities at IKS Health and the fact that the doctors could bring changes in the healthcare industry even without participating in the clinical environment. I took the plunge and now I am glad that I had made the right choice.

How do you feel about your current job? Would you recommend this option to other medical students / graduates?

Working with IKS Health has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. The most admirable part of my job is the incessant flow of information which automatically gets imbibed, during the review process. This updates me with the latest advances in the global healthcare field. I would strongly recommend other medical students/graduates to opt for this job as it will ensure a good stepping stone for their successful medical career.

Do you believe that medical students have a wide variety of job options to choose from?

Yes, there are tons of job options for medical students which include scientific, academic, technological, advisory/consulting, managerial and administration, media, retrieval, public health, health advocacy/education and other non-clinical medical roles.

?Do you feel that your medical education background is being utilized well in your current job role? Do you get the opportunity to practically apply the knowledge you have gained through your medical background?

Yes, absolutely well utilized as this clinical chart review process requires an exhaustive knowledge of medical science and its various specialties. I find that my professional knowledge is being tested at every corner of my day-today-work. Since the success of the whole process depends on the competency of the reviewer, I try to continuously update my understanding of a particular subject by referring textbooks or going through various research articles. So I believe that any medical graduate is a good fit for this job.

Any advice you may have for medical students / graduates on their possible career options?

In today’s era, medical graduates have numerous career options and they can choose from a plethora of lucrative, meaningful and diverse opportunities. My advice to them would be to follow their passion, work relentlessly towards their career goals and success is sure to follow them.
