What are your educational qualifications?

In addition to my Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, I have a PG diploma in clinical data management. I am also CPC certified from AAPC.

?What is your current job role?

Currently I am working as an Auditor and I have played multiple roles starting with Coder to Coding Expert and now to an Auditor. Currently, I perform root cause and error analysis and provide corrective and preventive plans to the reporting manager to minimize errors and to maintain quality of deliverables.

How is your education helping you with your current role?

The central responsibility as a medical coder is to update patient records with standardized information needed for data management and billing purposes. My bachelor’s degree along with the certificate course in life sciences has helped me with the basics of disease processes, treatment procedures, terminology, and body systems. Additionally, being a certified medical coder by an accredited institution, AAPC, I have gained expertise in analytical ability to read and analyze medical records by using the right codes and producing relevant data. I can now easily analyze medical charts and assign codes specific to each diagnosis and procedure every time a doctor, nurse, or other healthcare provider performs a service.

What is the best thing about IKS Health according to you?

?What I love about IKS Health is that it has offered me a chance to work in a team full of talented and fun colleagues who are driven by challenge and hard work. This separates us from being one of the crowd to The One in the crowd. It has simply made my desire to succeed even more ardent, and made all of us firm on the idea that limits only exist in our minds.

?What motivates you to go beyond your call of duty and give your 100% consistently?

I am motivated by meeting set targets within deadlines, as it gives me a sense of accomplishment and it's something that I can look back on and say "I achieved that". Besides, I am motivated by professional growth. In my current job role, I am always looking for ways to teach myself new things, for example, I read extensively in order to learn more about different topics. I find developing my industry knowledge and upskilling really valuable; and that’s something I can unquestionably see myself doing in this role.

Any advice you may have for candidates looking towards taking up medical coding as their possible career options.

?I believe upcoming coders must always remember that we come to work every day, to create a more inclusive, more resilient, more sustainable and accessible healthcare system. I strongly believe that only a qualified medical coder can keep up with the rising demand for digitally-led medical infrastructure. So I’d recommend everyone who is looking to create a niche career for themselves in the healthcare industry, should get the appropriate certification and join the ever evolving world of medical coding.?
