We keep on pondering over what defines 'Success'. Success means different things to different people. Sometimes society narrowly defines success as the salary one earns, the address where one stays, the car one drives, the position one holds, personal net worth etc etc more or less which have materialistic connotations. Is this Success ? After a Corporate life of 30-35 years will this define success when one retires & rewinds his/her life ?
There was a time when an employee was expected to come to work with their mind, body, heart & soul, so that he/she is productive at the workplace. Over a period of time a paradigm shift has happened, the question now is what you as an organisation are doing to make your employee realize their purpose of life & discover their true potential.
Success for Self (S4S) is an intervention which takes an employees through an experiential journey on the following 6 parameters: Physical, Intellectual, Spiritual, Emotional, Financial, Social
Further the experiential workshop takes employees through a journey which are based on the following key concepts:
a) How to choose your battles- in any confrontational situation, step back and analyze if that discussion/ confrontation is necessary or not else step back and don’t take on that discussion. At times it’s better to let go of the situation and not be confrontational as not much benefit will come out of that discussion.
b) Circle of Concern/ Influence- To try and manage your circle of concern as those are the parameters in your life which you can manage/control/do something about. If we start worrying or getting emotional about things out of our area of concern it will affect us both mentally and physically
c) Transactional states- In any situation in life we need to choose from which transactional state we want to operate. There are 3 types of transactional states- Adult-Child, Child-Child and Adult-Adult. There are some situations where we instinctively will go into an Adult-Child relationship however we need to step back and then see what state that particular transactional state requires and chose that to get the best results from that conversation/ situation
d) Yoga & Meditation which helps employees improve physical health and also relax and focus- Yoga and meditation which helped everyone to sit back and relax and let go of their baggage’s that they had been carrying- any loss in their life, any pain they felt, relationships which hurt them. People got emotional and post the session they felt lighter and better & at peace with themselves.
(f) How to feel your Aura- this is an activity of feeling your aura around you and also when you close your eyes the colors one could see. Basis that a bit of discussion on how to decipher your aura.
(g) Taking Feedback and implementing the changes- One by one participants are called to the center of the room and each participant has to give a feedback about that persons- one area of strength and one area of improvement. The person receiving the feedback could not speak or defend what was being said and had to just listen to what was being shared. Post that the person getting the feedback thanked the participants and pledged to implement the changes which were suggested.
(h) Giving feedback- How to give feedback to someone was discussed so that it is constructive and not just saying something to someone for the sake of it.
Employees open up let go their inhibitions, let their accumulated negative energies & baggage come out in the open which were hindering them from moving forward in life. The experiential journey shows a mirror to employees on their strength & areas of improvement & made them much more aware of themselves. Employees shed their mask & discover their real self ! The journey of Success begins from YOU ! & then spreads to your team & the larger organisation & environment in which you operate.
At the end of the experiential journey each & every employee prepare their own Vision Boards & pledge cards where they take a pledge to undertake activities which would impact all the 6 parameters which when practiced over a period of time form a part of their daily habit & they have a more inclusive view of Success which is called Success 4 Self.
Employee seem better poised & aware of themselves, feel much more calm & composed in their journey of life ….. & ready to take on the world !
