A Success Secret

Many times people ask me, "How do I succeed?"
They are entrepreneurs, CEOs, professionals, students, managers, parents, military personnel, officers - people from all walks of life.
And one thing I tell them is to be more giving.
In today's world people have forgotten the art of giving. You have been taught by society to not share.
In school, when you gave an exam, you weren't allowed to show your answers to your neighboring student. It was called cheating, if you tried to help someone learn.
In race at school only one kid came first. And got the gold medal. The others lost out.
But in life, the more you help people around you, the more you grow. Real life is very different from school.
Let me give you an example. This applies to every walk of life.
Let us say you are an engineer and have started a new company.
Let us say you have developed a new app to help people with whatever challenge they have.
For instance, a friend of mine Sai Gaddam has developed an app called Giffie - Learning To Read Made Fun to help kids learn to read.
Now his growth comes in when more kids learn to read and enjoy reading. The more kids he helps, the more successful he becomes.
I can vouch for his app, because my son enjoys using it. My son loves it because there are stories and learning is made fun.
Now, a technology like this can disrupt the whole learning system. More kids in the future can start learning from such apps and enjoy the process.
Reading after all is a beautiful gift to have. And if you know to read and still don't read, good books, good ideas, good stories, you are no different from someone who is illiterate.
So his success and his app's success depends on how many people he can reach and impact. The more he shares his gift with the world, the better the world becomes and the better his life becomes.
He is fulfilling his dharma.
It isn't really about trying to crush other apps or take business away from others.
It is about simply doing his best to reach more people and build a great product. Now in this journey he will learn more, make mistakes and grow.
This applies to every area and every person.
If you work in a company, your success depends on how well you can serve those around you. How helpful you are, how collaborative you are, how well you can take people with you, how well you can help the clients in the best way.
How you can make their lives happier.
The happier you can make people around you and in the world, the better your quality of life becomes.
Another person I was speaking with today, runs a travel agency. I was telling him the same thing, about being of service.
He shared, how people were willing to pay more, because he was willing to serve and be of help. He was open to help people when they needed help with extra baggage or flight changes and even called him at mid-night sometimes from foreign locations.
When you are willing to serve with honesty and love, things happen.
Every business success follows this mantra. Every successful professional follows this. Every family follows this.
Give more love to your wife. Give more love to your husband. Give more love to your children. Give more love to your parents. Give more love to your grandparents.
You will automatically have a happy and successful family life.
