The Success of the Garden Towers
This week, we are changing things up a bit and sharing 4 stories with you that show you the impact of the Garden Tower Project. This is what a $20 donation to 100 Humanitarians International can do in Kenya.
Story #1 - Peter
This is Peter Monyani from Musembe Village. He is a beneficiary of 100Humanitarians. He received his tower in July 2022, and because he maintained it, he saved 100 ksh (around $1) per week from the sale of vegetables.?
After three months he had saved 1200 ksh that he used to purchase three Hens. From the three hens he currently has 60 chickens.
Those 60 chickens lay eggs that he can sell. At 80% production, that is 4 dozen eggs per day. Eggs in Kenya sell for 10-15 cents each.?
That adds between $144-216 per month to his income in less than one year.?
From a $20 garden tower donation.?
Story #2 - Lilian
Lilian lives near the market center, and many people are buying vegetables from her garden tower.?
She's proud of the economic growth she has been able to have from taking care of her garden towers. Because of the sales, she has been able to pay for her children's school fees.?
School fees are one of the biggest challenges that families face, especially when they are living below the poverty line. Education is the #1 way for the next generation to rise above the poverty line.?
From a $20 garden tower donation.
Story #3 - Steven
Steven is blind, which makes traditional in-ground gardening a challenge. The Garden Tower is compact, and he is able to feel his way around to be able to tell what is ready for harvest.?
In spite of his blindness, he takes care of the Garden Tower, which has reduced the family expenses amidst hard economic times, allowing them to buy additional food that they need.?
From a $20 garden tower donation.?
Story #4 - Cooking in Kenya
Cooking kales in Kenya requires a bit of work, including collecting fireword, gathering water, building a fire, and cooking inside while breathing smoke.?
This is the life of a woman in Kenya, and our hope is to make life a bit easier for her through our programs.??
Women's empowerment in Kenya is time, because most of her day is spent on the daily needs. A $20 garden tower donation can reduce the amount a family spends on kales (the primary vegetable in Kenya) and the $1 a week that they save can go towards other needs, and even help start a new business!?
Donate a Garden Tower
Imagine these three stories multiplied by millions! How can this change the hunger crisis currently happening around the world??
Through our partners, they are being built in 15 different countries, and in every case, they are changing the lives of families who grow them.?
Right now, you can make a $20 donation and change a family's future.?
