The success or failure of America’s health care system – it’s on our collective watch
Today, I presented actionable solutions to Senators for stabilizing and strengthening the individual insurance market. Kaiser Permanente is committed to improving the health of our 12 million members and the 65 million people living in the communities we serve. We have continued to participate in the markets we serve inside and outside of the Exchanges. I delivered three important messages to the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions on behalf of Kaiser Permanente, our members and the American people:
- Real, concrete solutions exist to alleviate the issues with the ACA today and moving forward. These solutions can provide a strong, stable foundation for the American health care system, and encourage our competitors to return to the market and increase choices for consumers everywhere.
- Whatever side of the debate you stood on seven years ago – or even seven weeks ago – the choices made by Congress now will impact the health and lives of millions of Americans. We are collectively responsible for the success or failure of America’s health care system, and we must work together to build a model that provides high-quality, affordable and accessible care.
- Our solutions need to focus on the long-term cost of care and expanding access to more people. Because Kaiser Permanente provides health coverage and delivers care, we look at the system holistically. While immediate issues in the individual market are important, making care more affordable will require reform of both health insurance and care delivery.
Health plans and health insurers are ready to uphold our side of this responsibility, and we look forward to working closely with Congress to discuss and implement solutions that improve health care in America. 7 年In addition to my comment earlier, the nurse practitioners can practice and own clinic, the physician assistants can practice medicine. I was just wandering, if their training and qualifying exam is more valuable than the USMLE the most valuable medical qualification exam on this planet today. In my opinion I think the foreign medical graduates who were able to pass this exam will do a great job as general practitioner like what obtains in all the developed countries like Canada, UK, Australia etc who utilizes this professional for a better health system. I believe you can be of help in this . This will go a long way to reduce the physician shortage in USA especially the rural areas. Thank you in advance for speaking out on behalf of foreign medical graduate in USA legally. Any professional that is in USA hope for the best from nursing to law, but for foreign medical graduate. Please help talk to the senate or whoever can be of help. Again, God bless you as you help the poor and needy at the point of their needs.

7 年Thank you for all you do for the health care system. Sir, can you help to advocate for the foreign medical graduate who are ecfmg certified, and are not able to get into residency program for one reason or the other to work as house physician. I strongly believed helping these highly talented individuals who are in USA working as housekeepers, CNA, Security guard, Medical records clerks, will be more useful to themselves and the society at large when given the chance.
