Success does have a yardstick!

Success does have a yardstick!

=======================

People are often confused about what success is, they see it in terms of money, power, reach and that's why they're not.

Hear me out!

If you're a parent, you'd love your kid(s). You don't make any quick fixes, you plan their well-being. Sometimes you have to do things that they won't understand but you know they will when they grow up. And if the kids do grow up into responsible citizens, you earn yourself the title of a successful parent. On the other hand, You've failed as a parent if the kids turn evil no matter how much you loved them. Now lets extrapolate the relationship to the whole family- wife, parents, siblings and even a few friends and you become a successful household guy because you'd do everything in your power to take care of these people no matter what and you'd so in any situation not just by changing your Facebook DP. You wouldn't wait for help, you'd figure something out as if your own life depended on it.

Now lets extrapolate things further, let's say you take a bullet for your team's bad performance or let's say the whole team gets appraised because of you, that would make you a successful team leader or a manager. You see where am getting? You're growing into the role of a successful person as you start taking more and more responsibility for people around you. You start taking more and more responsibilities of more and more people and you start growing into even bigger roles. Mind the fact that it's not the other way around, it never is! You don't suddenly become a team leader and then you're forced to care about people, if that happens, you'd fail.

Now do you really think a radioactive spider is going to bite you and you'd get magical powers overnight? That shit doesn't happen in real life and hence the quote "With more powers, comes more responsibility" can be rendered useless.

Here's what actually happens:

"With great responsibilities, comes greater powers"

Fit in anybody in this world in the above scenario and let me know if I don't know what am talking about. I see and hear a lot of people these days saying how they don't give a shit about anything, well they should because otherwise they've just wasted a good life.

Success does have a yardstick and it's measured in terms of responsibility. Now you know how successful you are?
