Marketing Due Diligence
Marketing plays a major role in Event Planning and can garner either a tremendously successful result or a bust. How does one apply marketing to event planning? Continue reading to see how re-evaluating your marketing plan could perhaps take your event or meeting to the next level.
One of the first steps towards success when it comes to marketing to see determine the impact of your past marketing efforts. “Attendance (67%) is the most common metric used to measure the success of in-person events, though at least half use a variety of other metrics including revenue generated (56%), attendee engagement (54%) and brand awareness (51%)”.
With this tidbit of information in mind, reassess your marketing plan. Are your attendance numbers aligned with your current marketing plan? Are you following-up with attendees to calibrate their experience?
We live in a day and age where social media is a marketing goldmine. The latest statistics show that the average global consumer spends an average of 135 minutes a day on social media. According to MarketingCharts.com, “Social media (19.9% share) and email marketing (17.9%) have proven to be the most effective channels or tactics used to promote in-person events, followed by word-of-mouth (13.9%) and direct prospecting emails (13.2%)”. Knowing this provides you with solid footing to create a social media marketing campaign that will make your event the talk of the town.
In short, do your marketing due diligence and evaluate past attendance numbers and the marketing plan you employed. Make the appropriate adjustments to your marketing plan to ensure that your event promotions reach the largest number of people with minimal expense and effort. If marketing is not your thing, hire someone who knows their stuff. This is an investment into your business’ future that will most certainly grant positive returns?
