I used to define success by correlating it with achievement. When I set certain goals and achieved them, I considered myself successful. However, this image didn’t last long, as new goals were added to the list, and the journey started again. During this process, doubts crept in, and I found myself questioning whether I was truly successful or not.
After years of struggling with the definition of success and whether I was a successful person or not, I discovered that the definition of success varies from one person to another. For some, success is defined by their vision for themselves, while for others, it’s about material wealth or marriage, meaning success in life.
I decided to simplify the equation for myself. As long as I am achieving a suitable income and have peace of mind, then that means success. I will never judge myself if I fail in an interview, face rejection in an application, or experience difficulties in a relationship. As long as I have peace of mind and financial stability, and as long as I am doing my best, even in my weakest moments, I will be grateful for what I have accomplished in my life so far. If I were to die today, I would consider myself a successful person, not in the eyes of others, but based on my own perspective of what success means.
