As a leader, the people you lead need to be able to answer the following three questions:
1. Where are we going?
2. What do we need to do to get there?
3. What is my role? Where are we going? What is the clearly articulated vision, the north star of where the?organization is headed?
Creating this vision requires extended quiet time and?envisioning where the organization will be in 3-5 years.
What we need to do to get there is another way of asking, "What is our strategic?plan to achieve the vision?" I find it essential to include as many people as possible,?including the leadership team, in developing the strategy to achieve the vision.
This is?where alignment occurs as people are included in the "how" we will get there. What is my role? This is the notion that every person in the organization, from someone?who has just started yesterday in a front-line position to the CEO, needs to know?precisely what their role is in executing the strategy to achieve the vision. Of course, all of these need to be accomplished while closely adhering to our?core values.
Once everyone in the organization can answer these three questions, the leader needs?to rotate down to the organization's bottom and serve the team to help execute the plan.?What does "serve the team "mean? It could be providing financial support or a budget. It?could mean giving clarity or direction from time to time. Maybe someone needs to talk or?needs someone to listen to them.

We need to hold all team members accountable. Sometimes it includes a pat on the?back or a proverbial "kick in the pants". Maybe you could buy lunch for a team or run an?errand for someone so they can stay focused on meeting their commitments.
When we lead an aligned team and help them achieve their goals, we all can achieve?our ultimate success.
As leaders, our purpose and mindset should be to give more than we receive and?help others achieve their goals by making them successful. It's about putting?Significance over personal success.
