The Subtle Differences between Golf & Gulf

What a difference a single letter can make! Many Israelis refer to the Gulf States as the Golf States. This is a common error and although golf may indeed be played in the Gulf States, there is a world of difference in meaning, and no, the fact that it's "only one letter!!!"... really is a big deal. If you are giving a presentation (in English), putting yourself out there as an expert (on whatever topic), you obviously want to come across as a professional. Well of course you do, and therefore your presentation has to be on point. Your pronunciation needs to be comprehensible, your terminology needs to be correct, and your usage of the English language needs to reinforce your professionalism and leadership in your field.
