Substack Needs to be on Your Radar
Substack is taking advantage of the recent news about a potential TikTok ban by offering its platform as an alternative.
When you think of Substack, you may think, "How could they replace TikTok? They are a newsletter platform." While that was true in the past, things are quickly changing.
Substack is motivated now more than ever to ramp up its video offerings and attract TikTok users worried about the potential ban. One of its efforts includes its newest "creator studio," where a group of creators will be offered a free promotion if they transition their TikTok channels into Substack shows and communities.
Even though Austin Tedesco, the head of Substack, said this move isn't due to the panic over TikTok, the timing is quite convenient. Tedesco says he wants to provide a replacement for ad-based platforms. Then again, every social media platform says that before they realize that their greatest revenue comes from ads.
With all the chaos around TikTok right now, I think finding a new platform to move your audience to isn't the worst idea. What do you think?
