Subscription Engineer #27:Don't confuse CEO with SEO

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a critical component of any e-commerce business's digital marketing strategy. Essentially, SEO is the practice of optimizing a website or online store to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) for relevant keywords and phrases. By optimizing your website for search engines, you can increase your visibility and drive more targeted traffic to your site, which can lead to more sales and revenue.

There are several reasons why e-commerce and even subscription businesses with fewer pages need to consider SEO as a marketing strategy.

First, SEO is an effective way to drive organic traffic to your website. Organic traffic refers to visitors who come to your site through search engine results pages, as opposed to paid advertising or social media. These visitors are often more likely to convert into customers, as they are actively searching for products or services that align with your business.

Second, SEO can help you to establish your brand as a reputable and trustworthy source in your industry. By ranking high for relevant keywords and phrases, you can build credibility and authority in the eyes of both search engines and potential customers.

Third, SEO can help to improve the user experience on your website. When you optimize your site for search engines, you are also making it more user-friendly and easier to navigate. This can lead to a better overall experience for visitors, which can increase the likelihood of them returning to your site and converting into customers.

A lot of people go straight to the SEO agency but there are several things that you can do yourself using tools listed below:

  2. Ahrefs: Offers data on backlinks, organic search, and content analysis.
  3. SEMrush: Offers data on organic search, paid search, backlinks, and content analysis.
  4. Moz Pro: Offers tools for keyword research, link building, site crawls, and rank tracking.

SEO is certainly something you can start on your own. It takes time, but great content can be things as simple as “Why we do what we do.” Or articles that answer a question, like “What’s the best way to make my home smell nicer?”
