Here's what's happening in the world of tech this month...

1. Klarna using GenAI to cut costs by $10 million annually.

FinTech provider Klarna, one of the earliest adopters of generative AI said it’s using AI in different ways to most – cutting costs to existing budgets. The company has been using GenAI to run marketing campaigns and generating images. Saving about $10 million in costs annually.

2. Health and BioTech Startups getting majority of VC love.

So far in 2024, biotech and health companies have pulled in around $5.6 billion across 110 Series A rounds, per Crunchbase data. That accounts for 53% of all funding at the Series A stage, which is a closely watched barometer for the startup ecosystem.

3. DeepL secures $300m funding round.

Investors don’t seem to be getting off the Generative AI train anytime soon. Translation and language startup DeepL has become the latest startup using GenAI to raise eye-watering funds. Recently securing a $300 million investment and putting the post-money valuation at $2 billion.

4. CyberArk buys machine identity company Venafi.

Information security giant CyberArk has agreed to buy machine identity company Venafi for $1.5 billion. The deal involves approximately $1 billion in cash and $540 million in CyberArk shares. The deal is the largest this year for a private cybersecurity company.

Show me the NUMBERS!

A recent LinkedIn poll we posted indicated that the majority of you have updated your LinkedIn profile in the past year, which is great to see!?

But how many of you have added actual business impact results to your profile?

If you are building a career in sales or leadership, adding results to your CV or LinkedIn profile is a great way to add substance and stand out from your competition.

When formatting numbers and statistics on your resume, ensure they are clear and consistent so that your profile stands out and is easy to scan for both humans and AI bots!

Follow these simple guidelines to optimise the data in your resume:

Use Numerals: Represent numbers greater than nine with numerals.

Decimals Over Percentages: For numbers less than one, use decimals or fractions instead of percentages.

Separate Large Numbers: Insert commas or spaces to distinguish thousands, millions, or billions.

Employ Symbols and Abbreviations: Apply symbols or abbreviations for units of measurement, currency, or time.

Align Correctly: Right-align or centre-align numbers and statistics to enhance readability and comparison.

These practices help make your data more accessible and professional-looking and add weight to your CV. It could be the very thing that gets you the interview!
