SUBLIMINALLY HOSTILE part 3

Language is a powerful tool.?We all wield it badly some of the time, and we all say things that carry subliminal messages that we do not necessarily intend.?But how we communicate indicates how we think and ultimately determines our culture. Awareness is the first step toward doing better, and these four simple everyday phrases?(4 Part Series)?need to be reexamined and acknowledged?for the harm they do.
PART 3- "With all due respect..."?Listen to Ricky Bobby!?The speaker who leads with that phrase is about to deliver a boat-load of disrespect, albeit covered up with polite, even obsequious, language.?It's a less honest way of saying "I disagree", and you can pretty much count on the person who says "With all due respect" to your face to be undermining and back-stabbing when you are not around --- and doing it in the most gracious, concerned, caring language !

2 年Funny reality --- that "due respect" is often the sheath for the knife tat is waiting to stab you in the back. A lesson from Jack Welch.
