SUBLIMINALLY HOSTILE Part 2
David Simpson III
Helping companies GROW revenue (Business Development Specialist)
Language is a powerful tool.?We all wield it badly some of the time, and we all say things that carry subliminal messages that we do not necessarily intend.?But how we communicate indicates how we think and ultimately determines our culture. Awareness is the first step toward doing better, and these four simple everyday phrases (4 Part Series) need to be reexamined and acknowledged?for the harm they do.
PART 2- ?"If it ain't broke, don't fix?it."?It is never good to be dismissive of the ideas of others, and even worse to assume that fresh eyes cannot see that something, while not "broke" can still be working suboptimally.?A company culture that is not open to new ideas and constructive criticisms breeds a workforce that demands mediocrity.?Without the flow of new ideas and excitement?of exploratory discussion the best workers will be frustrated and limited and the least capable will have no example to aspire to. Worst of all, innovation will be minimal or nonexistent and innovation is a company's lifeblood.?Continuous improvement?is at the core of good corporate health, so broken or not, constant scrutiny and careful tweaking matter.

2 年"The jobs that get rewarded, get done." I once had a VP at HP tell me that I was "confusing market success with career success."? ? It motivated me... to leave.?? I've worked at some of the best technology companies in the world. Tektronix, Spectra-Physics, Fujitsu, HP, Honeywell, Vocollect... Only Spectra-Physics actually rewarded profit focused innovation.? It was not a "nice" place to work, but our CEO put profit above politics and popularity.
