Subconscious Goals

I don’t argue with my subconscious anymore.

One day, out of nowhere, the goal of being an investor in 100 businesses showed up.? Lifetime goal kind of thing.? It shaped my activities and began steering my opportunities and interests.

How the heck am I going to accomplish this?

I grew up swinging hammers and digging ditches, wrestled alligators, fought fires, and failed at attempts to build my own businesses (lots of dissolved llcs over here).

I launched 20+ podcasts and conducted over 2k interviews creating deals and opportunities to my guests and allies… but really, I was trying to find out who I was, find my way and how to step into my genius.? I wanted to find mentors, create friendships and learn together.?

But it kept on failing trying to get closer to my unconscious goal. ?

Entrepreneurs like me are in the door to door business… we keep knocking on doors until the right one in life opens up.? It would take a long time to write out all the jobs and businesses I have helped build, so I won’t do that but I will share that each thing taught me more about life, people, business and myself.? Tough lessons along the way, but really good experiences overall.

Back to my subconscious goal… I tried fighting it, running from it, insecurities made me avoid it, and it felt like torture and not a gift.

Until one door creaked open and I saw a path.? Using the skills I learned along the way, all the relationships I nurtured, and the connections I made…. Showed me that my gift is believing in people, connecting them with what they really need, and helping shape and cast larger visions.? I love doing this and I have become really good at it.

So where does that fit in with my one of subconscious goals?? I accomplished that goal within weeks (tell you how shortly) and accomplishing that goal opened up the next goal I’m working towards.

The door that opened for me is working with a few investment groups.? I saw how they do business and it clicked for me.? I ran from the idea of being an investor for so long, here’s a few records that play in my brain anytime I head that direction…”you are bad with money, can’t build your own business and heck you went bankrupt, you’ve been screwed in partnerships with family and friends alike, your picker is broken… you belong in the dirt with a shovel.? Go get a freaking job!”

But instead of running away or trying to work around my subconscious goal, I take a step of faith and I take the meeting with the investors.? They are using big words and complex numbers to describe what they do and I am silent and taking notes.? Insecure as Flip, I am thinking about running and then they said, “you are a fast learner and really good at this stuff, would you help us?”

Absolutely I replied

What the heck are you doing Josh?? I felt more comfortable wrestling gators and fires than heading this way.? So I started buying the books, working towards specific financial licensing, and talking with other friends I met along the way who are investors and I started seeing business from a different angle.

So… I am getting financial licensure, I becoming better with money every day, and I am trusting my gut (subconscious or perhaps a loving nudge from my loving God?) moving in the small directions forward.

To be continued… Can’t let the whole cat outta the bag yet but I will tell you how I smart hacked my lifetime goal of owning a puece of 100 businesses?

I bought shares in the Vanguard total stock index fund.? I now own a small part of over 3700 companies with the click of a button and it cost me $100.? Wanting that goal and Learning how to do that led me towards the next level in my journey.? So stayed tuned.
