When it comes to hotel interiors, I'm often asked the question: 'what's your favourite style?', which is like being asked, 'what's your type, or do you love grilled fresh seabass more than granny's jams?'?

Fact is, that when the setting is right and the concept seamless, I love them all from the rustic Alpine chalet to those urban pads of design minimalism.?

Built in 1973 by the legendary architect Othmar Barth, and recently re-imagined through the creative lens of Architect Walter Angonese, interiors compose selected works of the Italian School of Design:?Vico Magistretti, Achille Castiglioni?and?Emma Gismondi Schweinberger and?Goffredo Reggiani.

ZILLERTALERHOF Mayrhofen, Austria

Design icons from?Minotti, Freifrau, B&B Italia, lighting from?Tom Dixon?to?Flos, and?Vitra?nudge up to traditional Austrian fabrics and wallpapers from?House of Hackney?and?Christian Lacroix. A design menagerie of flamingoes and botanical accents, with traditional Tyrolean materials, peacock-blue banquettes and wood panelling.

GLORIETTE GUESTHOUSE Soprabolzano, Italy

Architecture studio noa*, aka Lukas Rungger & Stefan Rier, created this landmark retreat in 2018 inspired by the sinuous curves and rounded windows of Soprabolzano’s Art Nouveau buildings.?Cast in fondant white with its iconic colonnaded arches, rhombus-shaped outcrops and fabulous roof-top cantilevered infinity pool wrapped in bronze, this is a charismatic rebel.

MARI POP HOTEL Ried im?Zillertal, Austria

Architect Bernhard Stoehr of?Besto.ZT.?created an exterior that shimmers in copper cladding moving away from chocolate-box alpine architectural tradition, the frontage is bold, brave and modern, made more so with black-stained pinewood wrapping. Interior narrative is Alpine familiarity with pop art installations from the likes of?Alicai Henry?and?Mari Otberg.

CROSSING CONDOTTI Rome, Italy

Personally created by co-owner Carlotta Botta,?Fornasetti?is right at home here in this wonderland of treats and authenticity bolstered by artworks from?Sergio Vanni, Wetfloor,?Benedetta Mori Ubaldini?and?Beatrice Spadea. Antiques, select?mid-century icons and subtle?allusions to Rome's?addictive centuries-old culture, wrapped in rich textiles from silk taffeta to velvet.

A funky creative home to fashionistas and hipsters with interiors by Rasmus Larsson and Lisette Bernhoft of?DESIGN BY US. Through their imaginative and untraditional approach brings a vibrant boutique interior of modern designer hotel fused with Nordic confidence and a nudge of hot Brooklyn vibe.
