STW recently supported the "Entre Orientales" collective cultural exchange exhibition in Uruguay, expanding our business to the LATAM Market in 2023

This year on March 29th, the Bastión del Carmen Cultural Center in Colonia inaugurated the "Entre Orientales" collective cultural exchange exhibition with China. The event featured the works of three Uruguayan artists - Daniel Barbeito, Javier Pi, and Jorge Carbajal - curated by the Juan Palleiro Gallery. The exhibition aimed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uruguay and China and to promote artistic ties and exchanges between the two countries.

The Director of Culture of Colonia, Eduardo Barale, expressed the city's continuous support for all cultural expressions, emphasizing the significance of culture in integrating, mobilizing, and civilizing people. The exhibition allowed artists to showcase their work during the pandemic when there was limited movement on the streets.

Gabriela Rieiro, a talented artist and promoter of the project, highlighted the "impactful objective" of the exhibition, inspired by her trip to China. The project aimed to enable more artists to showcase their work in the Asian giant and strengthen artistic ties between Uruguay and China. Nine artists have participated in the three exhibitions held so far.

After the exhibition, an event was held at a reference restaurant in the historic neighbourhood. Chinese guests working in an essential company in the area tasted cheeses from a factory with over 100 years of experience, paired with excellent wines from various wineries in the Colonia department.

The exhibition was sponsored by Sundiro Holding, Frigorifico Rosario, Montes del Plata, and the Colonia Tourist Association. Collaborators included Parrillada El Porton, Bar La Locanda, Restaurante Refugio Colonia, Hotel Beltran, Hotel Royal, Hotel Leoncia, Las Liebres, Bodega El Legado, Bodega Hacienda Del Sacramento, Bodega Irurtia, Bodega Campo Tinto, and Alimentos Centenario. The exhibition was declared Ministerial Interest-Tourism by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Declaration of Departmental Interest of Colonia. The event was organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Uruguay, Bastion del Carmen Cultural Center, Juan Palleiro Gallery, Gabriela Rieiro, and Adriana Colmán, with support from STW Innovation (Shaketowin), Friends of Uruguay-China, and Uruguay-China Chamber of Commerce.

In conclusion, the "Entre Orientales" exhibition was a successful cultural exchange project that strengthened artistic ties between Uruguay and China. The support from sponsors, collaborators, and government agencies was crucial to the event's success. The exhibition demonstrated the power of culture in integrating and mobilizing people and the importance of promoting cultural exchange between countries.
