Students Required to Provide Personal Passport Details for US Visa Slot Booking

The United States Embassy in India has recently introduced new rules aimed at preventing fraud and misuse of the visa appointment system. Effective from November 27, 2023, these changes will impact all F, M, and J student visa applicants at US consulates across the country, including the one in Hyderabad.

Key Points to Note:

1. Use Your Own Passport Information:Starting November 27, 2023, all student visa applicants must use their own passport information when creating a profile and scheduling their visa appointment.
2. Consequences of Incorrect Passport Information:Profiles or appointments created with incorrect passport numbers will not be accepted at Visa Application Centres (VAC).Appointments will be canceled, and the visa fee will be forfeited for such cases.
3. Rectifying Mistakes:Applicants with errors in passport information can rectify the mistake by creating a new profile with the correct passport details or by updating an existing profile with the correct information to book an appointment.A new visa fee receipt will be required if the old receipt is attached to a profile with incorrect passport information.
4. Renewed Passports:Applicants who have recently renewed their passports can proceed with their scheduled appointment by providing a photocopy or other evidence of their old passport number.
