The Student Viewing Platform at University of South Florida
To see something that I designed from the ground up come to life was nothing short of an incredible experience.
The Student Viewing Platform at USF is my first ever project where I was able to start at pencil and paper, model it and later watch be built on-site at the?University of South Florida ?Judy Genshaft Honor’s College. The viewing platform is a U-shaped amphitheater with a raised seating area that creates a location for faculty, students and classes from across the campus to come together to teach, host classes or just enjoy the new state of the art building being constructed before them.
In this design, I was inspired by?Morphosis ?architectural elements of the Honors College building such as the Grand Stair and the guiding principles. I combined these elements to create an ambiance that welcomes collaboration and stimulates learning.
I was fortunate enough to combine my architecture background with my construction experience and create a project very meaningful to me and hopefully very useful for the USF students.
Shout ot to?The Beck Group /ENVISION Construction Services , the partnership with which I’ve progressed professionally, to Sr. PM?Christopher Claytor, P.E. ?for trusting me with this opportunity, to Sr. Sup?Evan DuPont ?for helping me with the design/flow of this project and to?Sandra Cordova ?for helping work out details.
None of this would’ve been possible without this amazing team.
Looking forward to all of the students that will tour the site this semester and to many more unplanned discussions with curious students that are exploring the platform!?
