Student Spotlight: Tate Crowther-Brown

Student Spotlight: Tate Crowther-Brown

Breathe BioMedical (BBM) is proud of our collaborations with post-secondary academic institutions, which allow us to access a pool of emerging talent for student work experiences. Student interns are an excellent addition to the BBM team, and we benefit from their eagerness to work and learn, while we build our pipeline for future permanent hires.?

Tate Crowther Brown is a second-year student at Dalhousie University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Tate is a member of the co-op program at Dalhousie, which allowed him to join our team this Winter for a four-month term as a Financial Analyst Intern.??

Tate first heard about BBM through a family friend. When he looked further into the company and saw that there was a position open for a Finance Analyst Intern, he knew he had to apply. “I looked at the company website and got really excited. I realized I could get the finance and accounting experience I wanted while also working at a medical technology company that is developing some potentially groundbreaking technology for cancer detection.”?

During his internship so far, Tate has completed many finance related tasks, as well as supported other areas of business development. “Something I appreciate about the co-op program is the ability to get experience in different areas. My interests have always leaned towards marketing, however I wanted to explore the finance and accounting space, as it has always been a secondary interest for me. My internship at BBM has allowed me to explore finance and business development as a whole,” said Tate.??

So far, some projects that Tate has worked on include participating in the accounting processes in the organization, conducting research, reporting on our websites monthly analytics and helping with general communication and business development tasks.??

When asked about the impact BBM has made, Tate said, “I am grateful for all I have learned so far through my internship at BBM. I think the most valuable element of this work term has been the diverse tasks I have been involved in. I have enhanced my understanding and appreciation for finance and improved my business development and communication skills. Regardless of the path that my career takes, I know the experience I have gained at BBM will be valuable.”?

When Tate is not supporting our business development team, you can find him playing intramural sports or working out at the gym. On top of his busy school schedule, Tate also takes the time to coach a volleyball team.??

Tate has been a great addition to our team over the last few months. We are looking forward to seeing what he will accomplish during the rest of his internship!??
