Student Spotlight - Emrose Randhawa

Student interns have a big impact on the work we do at Breathe BioMedical (BBM). The expertise and experience student interns provide in our workplace is invaluable. At BBM we treasure the opportunity to learn from our student interns while providing them with an exciting place to learn and grow.???

Emrose R. is a 4th year Healthcare Analytics student at the University of Ottawa and joined our team in September as a Business Development Intern.??

When looking for a fall internship, Emrose was intrigued by Breathe BioMedical because of our technology. She said “breath analytics is a relatively new field and is almost unheard of within oncology diagnostics. I knew I wanted to apply for the job once I saw BBM’s mission and how they wanted to provide non-invasive cancer screening to all.”?

During her internship, Emrose has had the opportunity to work on many exciting projects. Recently, she put together an analytics report of research on the liquid biopsy market. This research was then used in a presentation which the team worked on collaboratively. “This is a data heavy project, and I am excited to continue this exciting work.” Emrose said. “I am very passionate and proud of this research and was thrilled to see its impact within our team.” She?has also worked diligently to develop new website and social media analytics, which are discussed within our team on a monthly basis.?

In the future, Emrose has a goal of starting her own biomedical company. She said that Breathe BioMedical has taught her a lot of entrepreneurial skills. She said, “So much happens behind the scenes at biotech and start-up companies, that many people don’t get to see. I have gotten to witness the everyday operations of a medical technology company and have learned the importance of networking and partnerships.”??

Emrose will be joining our team part-time in January while she finishes her degree. Thank you for all your hard work, Emrose, and we look forward to seeing what you will accomplish during the next few months!?
