Student Leadership Training Is More Important Than Ever Today!

Back in March of 2023, after attending a roundtable conversation with student affairs professionals from across the country, one of the main things that I shared with others in a leadership article following this conversation is that we all agreed that effective leadership development training was needed more than ever for emerging student leaders within our campus communities.

A couple of reason why we all felt so strongly about investing into intentional and effective leadership development training for emerging student leaders is because the right leadership programs not only help student leaders evolve, develop, and grow as leaders, but the right leadership training will empower them with the leadership skills that are needed to address some of the most challenging situations facing college and university campuses today.

?In effect, with all the unique challenges and changes that have occurred on campuses across the country over the past three years, similar to presidents and higher educational leaders, we all agreed that in order to ensure that emerging student leaders are equipped to lead and deal with these unique leadership challenges of the day, there must be an investment into more intentional and effective leadership development training programs for student leaders.

?Ironically, this conversation was affirmed in a educational leadership article published earlier this year by Devorah Lieberman where she asserted, “COVID-19 disrupted higher education in unprecedented ways, and presidents or higher education leaders that desire to deal during the challenging?post-pandemic world must be nimble, prepared, and multi-skilled to address immediate challenges while also making the tough strategic decisions to ensure that colleges and universities remain viable and sustainable for generations to come.”

To help professionals that work with emerging student leaders at various universities and colleges across the country, my leadership team and I have are planning the 14th Annual Circle of Change Leadership Experience this November 17-19, 2023 in Los Angeles, California at the California State University of Dominguez Hills so that professionals within higher education have a place to send their student leaders for leadership development training that will have a lasting impact.
