Student Internships Available Throughout the District in Summer 2023
Jordan Barenburg
Communications Manager, The School District of Palm Beach County
The School District of Palm Beach County is continuing to foster post-graduate success by providing several paid student internships in various District departments during summer 2023. This initiative provides students with valuable work experiences that are important to their development as professionals.
Applicants must be 16 years of age and older, current high school juniors or seniors, or recent graduates of the School District attending undergraduate programs at a college or university.
The District wants to create opportunities for young people to gain meaningful experience in their chosen fields. These efforts are especially important for young people who may not have the familial or social networks to obtain summer professional development experience. Some relevant statistics validate the importance of internships:
? 84% of college interns said their internship was their first work experience.
? 91% of employers want work experience.
? Paid internships are twice as likely to lead to a job.?
This year for the first time, in collaboration with the Florida Future Educators of America (FFEA) program to grow our own teachers, the District is adding school-based internships that will allow students to work side-by-side with teachers in Summer Reading Academy (SRA) classrooms.
The application period for District student summer internships will run from Monday, March 6, through Friday, March 31. Visit the Student Internships and Volunteer Opportunities webpage to stay up-to-date and to view forthcoming information on the process to apply during the application period.
